AJEM & MEMP

The latest edition of the Australian Journal of Emergency Management focuses on gender, intersectionality, inclusion and diversity.  It  includes an article on the Multicultural Emergency Management Partnership (MEMP) by MEMP Co-Chair Rita Seumanutafa-Palala.

DRINK

Multicultural Emergency Management Partnership (MEMP) is a unique community of trusted leaders and members from multicultural communities, emergency management agencies, and other supportive organisations. MEMP works together to make communities safer and more resilient during emergencies like floods, fires, and extreme weather by connecting and supporting each other.

"It (MEMP) is assisting the emergency management sector to better
understand the strengths of community networks that can
be drawn on and to improve community understanding
of how to better prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.
‘To put it simply, it’s about emergency services and our
communities genuinely listening and learning together
about how to keep us safe''

Andrew Crisp AM  APM
Former VictorianEmergency Management Commissioner

The MEMP acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout our nation, and pays respect to Elders past and present. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ connections to land, sea and community, and respect their cultural, spiritual and educational practices.

The MEMP recognises and celebrates the extraordinary cultural richness and diversity of our communities and workplaces. The MEMP is committed to inclusiveness, respect and cultural safety.
